Day 1. San Diego to Mission Viejo.

Day 1. San Diego to Mission Viejo.

We had an interesting evening with Chuck Cox, his buddy Jim Knox and his wife Marsha talking Alaska fishing (which was supper, Alaskan halibut Chuck caught and processed himself) motorcycles with Jim and the Pacific Northwest as they both came from the Seatle area (but never knew each other till they both ended up in California years later and with us having lived in Oregon,

Both are members of Knights of Columbus Council 7902 in San Diego. As Officers, they petitioned and were granted a send-off Mass at Ascension Catholic Church.

After Mass other Knights in attendance and parishioners spoke with us asking many great questions with some relating their “kidney stories”. The man sitting directly in front of us in church told us wife was a living donor.

A local TV station was there to cover the send-off as my brother Gary, from Oregon, and I biked out of the church parking lot.

We covered 83 some miles to Mission Viejo, stopping to get permission to pass through Camp Pendleton.
